Health and safety leadership
Our principal consultant, Greg Dearsly, is a well-respected industry leader. He is the Immediate Past President of the New Zealand Institute of Safety Management (NZISM) having held the President role from 2016 – 2020. Greg also represented NZISM on the Governance Group of the Health and Safety Association of New Zealand (HASANZ) from 2014 – 2020. In 2020 Greg was nominated by NZISM and voted onto the Executive Committee of the International Network of Health and Safety Professional Organisations (INSHPO). Greg is a regular contributor to national working groups on health and safety and is a passionate and experienced speaker at industry conferences.
Greg was first introduced to health and safety whilst working in the waste industry where he spent over 15 years in various health and safety roles, including National HSE Manager for Transpacific Industries Group’s New Zealand operations where he managed a team of health and safety practicioners.
In 2011, he founded First Principles 4 Safety to provide balanced health and safety consultancy advice to businesses both large and small. The company has grown rapidly and was rebranded First 4 Safety in 2014.
Sara joined First 4 Safety in 2014 as the administration manager and provides operational support for the organisation. More recently Sara has been utilising her administration skills within the Health and Safety field for a number of small to medium sized clients as we help them develop and improve on the way their health and safety systems are used.
For nearly 20 years, Sara has been working in office administration and management for a number of businesses, including Sony NZ, Waste Management, Samsung NZ, Elders NZ and NZ Bus. Sara has undertaken a variety of roles within these organisations and has a wide range of administration skills from customer service to senior credit control.
Greg Richards is a motivated, multi-tasking Health and Safety Specialist who is truly passionate about the safety and wellbeing of people. Greg possesses excellent planning and implementation skills and has an ability to build trust and confidence in people.
Greg also applies a practical approach in providing solutions with H&S the key front runner. He can be trusted to listen to all aspects of challenging situations and through involvement with key stakeholders provide acceptable and practical solutions.
Greg is a friendly approachable individual committed to providing a suitable solution to any Health and Safety challenges you may face.
